Proton cannot do that on the Fediverse.<br><br>When Proton rebranded a few years ago, which caused some people to lose their accounts with no refund, they silenced any complaints on both Facebook and Reddit. I know, because I was one of those people. Most of you were happy to have the new upgraded accounts, but if you had the original family plan, which they discontinued (only to start selling a new family plan months later), you were not a happy person to find out you lost your service.<br><br>Additionally, it has been brought to people's attention that Proton now falls under Us-jurisdiction. Proton would like to argue that is only for Proton Wallet, but our legal system does not allow a company to pick and choose. Plus, even if they could (you cannot), it means they could still be pressured and influence by US Politics and US Laws now. Their Terms of Services, also goes into lengths concerning Us Laws and Us Customers. It goes beyond just the CEO's support for fascism leadership (Donald Trump).<br><br>Naturally, making this list is not easy. These are two types of companies I avoided in making my list. <br><br>1) Those who actually fall under US-jurisdiction because they are based or owned by a company in the USA.<br><br>More than often, I will stumble over a company that appears to be outside the USA, but later find they are owned by another corporation based inside the USA, and so they do fall under US-jurisdiction.<br><br>2) Those who voluntarily give up their sovereignty to the United States. The 2nd type, who voluntarily gives up their sovereignty in the way of US jurisdiction, have whole sections of their terms concerning US Laws and US based customers. They prevented anyone from speaking out on their Facebook page and on their Subreddit on Reddit.<br><br>I had the old family plan, which allowed each member to have their own login. The space and services were evenly divided among the members. I paid 1 year in advance. They ended the family plan. 1 e-mail was converted to a premium account, 1 e-mail into a free account, and 1 e-mail simply vanished. No refund, because they claimed the 1 remaining premium was still providing (less than what I paid for).<br><br>Proton discontinued the family plan service, only to eventually offer it again (it is available, now). Which means they could have left people well enough alone. Their TOS (Terms of Services) says they can change things without notice, and they mean it. <br><br>It is not the 1st time Proton Mail has shown their true colors. Worse, people go there, often claiming "they're not Google" (or Microsoft), but that is exactly what Proton is trying to mimic. Your e-mail, VPN, cloud store, password manager, and now Proton Pay. Ignorance is bliss, I guess.<br><br>I'll stick with Tuta ( </span><a href="https://mastodon.social/@Tutanota" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@Tutanota@mastodon.social</a><span> ). They provide an e-mail and calendar, that's all. But of course that requires account creds just as the PC does. </p><p>If the Android app removed the need for authentication, then is a different protocol being used by their in-house app? And if so, couldn’t a PC use the same protocol to escape the login need, or is it proprietary?</p><p><a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/askFedi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>askFedi</span></a></p>
