Quixoticgeek<p>Another week. Another museum. This week the Swedish History Museum in Stockholm. I came here largely to see this one tool chest. </p><p>It's the Mästermyr toolchest. A 1000 year old chest filled with blacksmithing and woodworking tools. It's an incredibly important find. Beautifully preserved in the bog. The tools are wonderful. I'd seen pictures and read about these tools, but to see them up close. Nazo<p>I guess a handful of people on Mastodon might understand that there is a satisfaction to be found in taking old, abused tools and cleaning and sharpening them until they are actually useful again. I didn't really have the right stuff to make it as sharp as I'd like, but it is able to split and chip wood sufficiently (mostly just needed for an emergency stove I hope I'll never have to use anyway.)</p><p>I can't emphasize enough how big of a change it was really. This thing was literally <em>brown</em>. There wasn't a single millimeter of non-rusted metal. Even a bit of the coating has rust... Customasm is a sort of assembler generator for custom architectures.</p><p>You feed the tool with an instruction set description and an assembly source and it assembles the source according to the instructions.
