Pig-butchering scammers in Myanmar lose use of 2,500 Starlink terminals.

As we discussed earlier this year, organized crime groups are using slaves to scam people from massive #PigButchering factories. One notorious center for the grotesquely evil practice is #Myanmar.

This week, #SpaceX is crowing about how it’s blocked 2,500 #Starlink satellite internet terminals being used by these scumbags to reach their victims. In #SBBlogwatch, we wonder what took Elon so long.

Comet C/2025 A6 Lemmon in the evening sky, as seen in the mountains of southern New Mexico.

First photo was taken in twilight, so the sky is blue. This comet is not very bright, so the faint extensions of the tail are easily washed out by twilight (or light pollution).

Second photo is a slightly wider view, taken in full night. The tail extends at least seven degrees. The sky background is mottled and banded. That's because bands of (mostly green) airglow were drifting across the sky.

The third photo shows the appearance of the second photo before I took steps to try and smooth the sky background. With contrast set high, not only was the sky covered with bands of lighter and darker sections of sky...but they were different colors as well.

The fourth photo shows where I placed sample areas across the frame so that image processing software could analyze, model, and correct the irregularities in the sky. Considering what I started with, my final result is pretty good.

"The rapid deorbiting of #Starlink #satellites has raised alarms, particularly as Elon Musk’s SpaceX constellation continues to grow. With up to four satellites falling to Earth daily in 2025, experts, including astronomer @planet4589, are warning about both the immediate and long-term impacts. While most of these satellites burn up safely in the #atmosphere, concerns about #SpaceDebris and atmospheric #pollution are mounting."

"Tropical paradise. Smiling faces. This is the fantasy Fiji has successfully sold to the world. And as I drive along the West Coast of Viti Levu, the archipelago’s largest island, the scenery does indeed resemble a tourist advertisement: crystal-blue ocean water, white sandy beaches, and lush tropical forests hugging the shoreline. But Fiji is more than breathtaking landscapes. While most people are aware of the rapid rise of data centers in the US and Europe, the creeping influence of tech giants like Google and Starklink can be seen and felt here, too.

Starlink, a subsidiary of American aerospace company SpaceX (owned by Elon Musk), was launched in Fiji in May 2024 and has quickly integrated itself into the local telecommunications ecosystem. Late that same year on the West of Viti Levu, Google broke ground on a future data center facility that will also house four Google-built subsea cables. The Southern Cross Cable, Fiji’s first subsea cable, was connected on the east coast of the island close to the capital city, Suva, in 2000. Natadola Bay, the chosen site for Google’s future ICT Facility and new cables, is not located near the nation’s capital city. It is, however, conveniently located next to the world-renowned golf course and five-star luxury resort, a fitting location for a project that builds on the colonial legacies of the Pacific."
