I rarely watch presidential debates, especially American ones. They generally contain very little actual political information and American ones tend to be more about slinging mud than anything else. However it is notable that even on the bastion of leftist politics, Mastodon, #Biden is considered to have done very poorly.
I listened to a short clip played during a news bulletin on the BBC and #Trump was the one spewing utter factual nonsense.
Quite depressing those are America’s options.
But also, Americans could perhaps consider voting third party? I know that is considered a wasted vote, but if everyone constantly thinks like that, nothing ever changes.
@Setok
What is "factual nonsense"?
@TCatInReality just a fancy way of saying 'nonsense' :) I mean things that didn't make sense or things which were outright lies.
Now it was a short clip so I can't really comment on how the debate went overall. I just found my eyes rolling upon hearing Trump speak again.
@Setok
US or UK, debates haven't been useful in years. It's all about looking "strong" and getting sound bites in the news.
The media is so desperate to present Biden v Trump as close that they obsess over Biden's performance and ignore Trump's complete insanity (and crimes, authoritarian tendencies and what passes for policy).
"Debate" performance, like age, is not a factor in my assessment for POTUS - esp when #Biden has such a strong record to run on.
@TCatInReality I tend to agree. Debates are really not even debates, and that's why they're personally not very interesting. It's just shouting and poor soundbites. This is where Trump and his 'wall of bullshit' is so successful. There's so much bullshit that media can find some soundbites and how do you debate such an amount of bullshit beyond 'You're a lunatic'...
